Post Rehab & Return to Sport Training
In sports, as well as in life, accidents happen. When an injury occurs it can be devastating to an athlete, both physically and mentally. Once surgery and rehabilitation have been completed, what’s the next step?
As anyone who has gone through it will tell you: “cleared to play” is not the same as “ready to play.” At ASP we have the knowledge and experience needed to get you back on the field or court. Our expert coaches will design your program which will not only build your strength but your confidence as well. Come back better-prepared, stronger, faster, and more resilient.
At ASP, we are joined by the physical therapy team, Complete Sports Rehab. Dr. Andrew Naylor and his team are a great resource for injury rehabilitation, and will work with your ASP coaches to design the best plan for your return to sport.
When Katie Landgrebe broke her femur in a tournament soccer game in seventh grade, she came to the Sports Medicine Biodynamics Center at Cincinnati Children’s for physical therapy. Researchers at Cincinnati Children’s were interested in studying young athletes like Katie. They wanted to know why female athletes were up to six times more likely than boys to tear their ACL, the anterior cruciate ligament that runs through the center of the knee and is one of the primary stabilizers of the joint.
Jensen Brent, Owner of ASP, and at the time a biomechanist at Cincinnati Children’s and director of the training and injury prevention programs, watched Katie’s form and challenged her to work harder. He showed her ways to strengthen her muscles and keep from getting hurt. She continued training while she played on the varsity soccer team as a freshman at Madeira High School. Her coach took notice and got the whole team involved. The training helped lead the team to a winning season.
